Terms of Service

Effective: 1 June 2025 · Last updated: 23 October 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of My Tin, operated by Philipp Burath, Australia (“we”, “our”, “the service”). By using My Tin, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. What My Tin is

My Tin is a personal budgeting and financial tracking tool. You import your own bank transaction records (via CSV), categorise them, set budgets, track goals, and view reports. My Tin does not connect to your bank. There are no user accounts or passwords: the app runs in your browser and your financial data is stored on your device.

Not financial advice: My Tin is a personal productivity tool, not a financial service. Nothing in the app constitutes financial product advice, investment recommendations, or financial services under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). We do not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL). For financial advice, consult a licensed financial adviser.

2. Using My Tin and your licence

Eligibility: You must be 18 or older to use My Tin.
No account needed: My Tin identifies your browser with a random anonymous device ID. You do not register with a name, email address or password.
Licence key: When you buy Core or Pro you receive a licence key (MYTIN-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX). It is how you restore your plan on another browser or device. Keep it private: anyone who has it can use your plan, and we cannot tell the difference.
Personal use: A licence is for your own personal use, on up to 5 of your own devices. Do not share or resell your key.
Lost keys: If you lose your key, contact support@mytin.app with your Stripe receipt and we will help where we reasonably can.

3. Your data

You own your data: All financial data you enter or import belongs to you. We do not claim any rights to it.
It stays on your device: Your transactions, budgets and goals are stored in your browser on your device. Our servers do not receive them. Because of this, clearing your browser data or losing your device can permanently delete them, so please make regular backups.
Backup and export: You can back up and restore your data from Settings → Backup & Export. CSV export of your transactions is available on the Pro plan.
Deleting your data: You can delete your data at any time from the Data Management page in the app. Deletion on your device is immediate and cannot be undone.
Optional cloud sync (Pro): If you turn on sync, an encrypted copy of your data is stored in your own Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive storage, under that provider’s terms. You are responsible for that account.
What we hold: Only what is needed to run licensing and billing, as set out in our Privacy Policy.

See our Privacy Policy for full details.

4. Plans, pricing and billing

Trial and Free: New devices get a 14-day full-feature trial with no payment details required. After that, the Free plan continues with limits (currently 1 account and 60 days of transaction history).
Core: Core is a one-time payment, charged in Australian dollars via Stripe. It unlocks the Core features for as long as we operate the service.
Pro: Pro is a monthly or annual subscription billed in advance via Stripe. Your first Pro payment includes the Core price. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
Cancelling Pro: You can cancel at any time using the Manage subscription & billing option on the Plans page in the app. You keep Pro features until the end of the period you have paid for, then your plan returns to Core.
Refunds: We offer a pro-rata refund if you cancel a Pro subscription within 7 days of a new subscription or renewal. Contact support@mytin.app to request one. Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Price changes: We will give at least 30 days notice of changes to Pro subscription pricing, by notice on our website or in the app, before they apply to your next renewal.
Payments and tax: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details. Prices are shown in AUD and currently include no GST.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

✕Use the service for any unlawful purpose
✕Share, sell or publish licence keys, or use a key beyond the device limit
✕Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code
✕Attempt to compromise, overload or bypass licensing in the service
✕Use automated scripts to scrape or bulk-extract data from our servers
✕Resell or sublicense access to the service

6. Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Most of My Tin runs in your browser, but licensing, billing and relayed sync features depend on our servers and third-party providers. We may perform maintenance, apply updates, or experience outages, and we will endeavour to communicate planned downtime in advance.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, to the extent permitted by law, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy of financial calculations.

We do not warrant that forecasts, projections, imports or budget calculations are accurate or suitable for financial decision-making. Always verify important financial information against your original bank statements.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of My Tin is limited to the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or AUD $100, whichever is greater.

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, or financial loss arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Because your data is stored on your device, you are responsible for keeping backups.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010) that cannot be excluded by contract.

9. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time and delete your data from the Data Management page. We may suspend or revoke a licence that breaches these Terms (for example, key sharing or abuse of the service), with reasonable notice where practical.

On termination your right to use paid features ends. Data stored only on your device remains under your control, and you can export it before deleting it. Data in your own cloud storage is not affected unless you delete it there.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Because we do not hold your email address, we will publish the updated Terms on this page with a new “Last updated” date and give notice in the app for material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia.
